SUCCESS: 2011 Hawaii Rush Holiday Camp

Message from Tim Schulz:
Hawaii Rush Camp was a success. I must admit after last year’s weather debacle, I was nervous. But the beautiful Hawaiian climate prevailed. 70 plus campers enjoyed three days of soccer and sun.
The camp was not just about “kicking the ball”. Opening day we discussed being accountable and showing respect.
I had pushed these young athletes harder than normal. Our curriculum was a bit advanced yet most responded positively. I was impressed. We spent 2.5 hours working technique, tactics and competition. Many of the campers participated in an afternoon session for another 2.5 hours…wow! I could only empathize with their tired weary bodies on day three; nevertheless each and every one pushed his/her limits. I was proud.
Our surprise guests were no surprise. Mehdi Ballouchy from the New York Red Bulls and the one and only Carrie Dew representing her team, the Sky Blue New Jersey Women’s Pro Team.
Mehdi dazzled the players with his deft ball skill demonstrations, signed autographs, participated in the scrimmages and shared his ups and downs during the talks with uncle Tim. It is evident he has a passion for the game. Although one quick piece of advice, your singing of, “Oh when the Rush Go Marching In,” was a bit off tune. No record contract for Medhi this year.
Carrie put on her normal charm and disposition, but don’t let that fool you she is one of most tenacious defenders in the world. She has been known to kick her grandma. She is a favorite among the players and brings unity and leadership to those she carry’s with as portrayed in some of the photos. Carrie also shared her soccer history. She truly is a pro.
A special thank you to Hawaii Rush Technical Director, Arian Hoxha, truly doing a wonderful job with Hawaii Rush. Your diligence is paying off. The ant killer you bought displayed safety and humility… a small example of what you do behind the scenes that no one sees. Who would have thought that was part of your job description? One more thank you to the helpers setting this event up! Your hospitality is off the charts; very few clubs can boast this quality. I am always treated as part of your family!
Thank you for a wonderful time.
Tim Schulz, President & C.E.O. Rush Soccer.
Campers, I embedded the 11 core value words in the above letter…see if you can find them! Accountability, Advice, Empathy, Enjoyment, Humility, Leadership, Passion, Respect, Safety, Tenacity, Unity.
WELL BALANCED AND FUN-FILLED

The Fourth Annual Hawaii Rush Holiday Soccer Camp has proven to be a great success so far with great attendance overall and lots of positive feedback.
This year, more than 75 children participated in the 3-day camp and demonstrated great improvement in skills during drills, games, and training with our professional RUSH Staff. In addition to field training, the children took on classroom sessions to include Rush Core Values, the role of a Team Captain, play adjustment when a goal up or a goal down, focus, and commitment for the game.
The Hawaii Rush Holiday Camp tradition promotes a well-balanced and fun-filled environment at Waipio each year. The children enjoy it while it keeps them occupied during the Holidays.
The Professional Rush Staff looks forward to seeing all of you again next year.
Go RUSH!
